Happy 3rd Birthday!!

Three years ago today, I went to Sports Clips and had a very nice lady shave my head. After losing a large portion of my hair, I got to a point where having my scalp be HEALTHY was way more important than having the hair in the first place. These days, I consider February 10th to be my hair's birthday.

It's hard to believe it has been three years. Since shaving my head, my hair has grown back and if it weren't for my emotional "I need to chop 3 inches off of my hair today" episodes, it would be longer than it was when it started falling out. Thankfully, my hair came back in basically the same. It holds oil more than it used to, but if I wash it every day it dries out my scalp. Other  than that, it is almost the same color (a little bit darker) and still curly.

For me, shaving my head was a medical necessity, but it changed my life in so many other ways. It allowed me to be myself. It showed me who my true, supportive friends were. It showed me that my family was my rock. And most importantly, it showed me that you never know how strong you can be until being strong is your only option left. So, happy birthday to my hair. Three looks good on you.
