Blog Challenge - Day 28

My guilty pleasure(s).... NO JUDGEMENT, PLEASE!

WEDDING UPDATE

I haven't posted much about wedding planning, because things have been in kind of a lull lately. But this has been a big week for us!

On Sunday we went to a food tasting at our venue. Ben, my mom, 4 of my bridesmaids, and me ventured out (in the midst of a snow storm -__-) to try the options for our reception menu! To our delight, most of the food was outstanding! I mean, even the food we didn't particularly care for was good, just not our taste. We got to try cakes too since the venue does that for us too, so that was exciting! We met the DJ and a bar service option also, so we got more information on those things as well.

Then on Tuesday, we had out preliminary planning meeting with our wedding coordinator at the venue. We gave the names of all of our wedding party, decided on the front row seating arrangement, made some decisions on linens and additional things we're wanting to do. All in all, it was really easy and painless. I'm so glad we went with this venue. It's gorgeous and almost everything (flowers, cake, tuxes, etc. etc.) is included!

We are working on Save the Dates now. They're here, stuffed and sealed in the envelopes, and are just waiting to be addressed and stamped. We're hoping to get them out the second week of April, so we should probably get on that! I can't wait for everyone to see them!

Additionally, we asked one of our friends to be an usher in the wedding yesterday. He said yes! YAY!

Blog Challenge - Day 27

Day 27 asks me to list online friends on mine that I've never met in person but would like to eventually... Unfortunately I'm not far enough into the blogging realm to have made any really cool friends!!! WHO WANTS TO BE MY FIRST BLOG FRIEND(S)???

Blog Challenge - Day 25

My location is here... Kansas City. Home of good BBQ, notoriously bad sports teams, and a whole bunch of fountains!

Blog Challenge - Day 24

Embarrassing moments?? Who has those? I've had a number, I guess...

But the funniest part about all of them is that now that I've been asked to recall them and tell people, nothing comes to mind... Isn't it funny how your brain blocks things out like that?!

Today (this post) marks post #100 on Polka-dot Chronicles!

A big thanks to everyone who reads as I get the hang of blogging!

Blog Challenge - Day 22

On Day 22 you get to learn what I do when I'm home alone....

I'm sorry to report that I'm not too exciting. When I'm home alone I tend to watch TV, scrapbook, work on homework, or sleep. I don't get a lot of time and home, and when I do, somebody is usually here with me.

I'm an old soul. :)

Blog Challenge - Day 21

As cliche as it sounds, my biggest fear is losing the people that I love. Having gone through the death of my best friend/closest family member when I had just graduated high school, it is something that I think about and dread. Life wouldn't be the same if the people in it weren't there.

The 411

Well guys, it's been a while since I actually updated you on what's going on with me! I've been doing this blog challenge (and I feel like it's flooding the blog...), but I still want to make sure I'm keeping up on everything else - food, fun, fashion, friends! Please let me know if there's something you want to see here on P-DC!!

So here's what's up!!

I didn't get into Teach for America. :( I was bummed out for a few days, but I've realized that it's okay because it just means that something better is going to come for me! I've been applying around in other districts, and I actually have an interview on Monday. So keep me in your thoughts for the next week or so.

Other than that, I've just been living the dream. Working a lot, not sleeping as much as I'd like to. The past couple weeks have been especially busy due to it being Spring Break at LFE, which means we're open for longer than usual and run a "camp." This year we focused on learning about Cherokee Indians. Fun stuff, long days.

But I've got some exciting things coming up. I'll be traveling to Indiana the first weekend in April for Ben's sister's wedding! We're looking forward to seeing his family and things. After that, things will start getting busy because I'm going to be a bridesmaid in one of my friend's (Jessica) weddings in May! Plenty of get togethers and dress fittings from now until then!

Here's a few snapshots of recent events at/for work:

Things I NEED in my closet for Spring!

Hey guys! With all of the new Spring fashion is coming out, I wanted to show you a few things that I am loving right now & want to pick up for my closet!

Right now I'm obsessed with wedges! They look cute with dresses, jeans, everything! Target has a ton of new wedges, and also a bunch of pretty basic suede platform heels that I love at a reasonable price.. which I love even more!

The dress is a new Spring style in at Old Navy! It comes in a bunch of different colors & is only $20 bucks! What a steal for a cute dress that would work for a ton of different occasions!?

Last, I'm in love with scarves. I always have been! The brand I'm loving the most right now is Sew Elizabeth & Ellen, which is run by a former coworker of mine! She makes the cutest infinity scarves by hand! Check her out!!

Blog Challenge - Day 20

Day 20 calls for me to tell you what I collect....

As a child I used to collect Miss Piggy things. As I've gotten older that has fallen off the radar. I collect the Precious Moments Angel ornaments from Hallmark around Christmas. Now as I've gotten older all I can claim to collect is clothes!

Blog Challenge - Day 18

Day 18 asks me to tell you where I am happiest. So, that made me have to stop and think about it... where am I happiest? Somewhere warm? Somewhere foreign? I ended up deciding that I am happiest when I'm traveling. When I'm going somewhere new, exploring somewhere I've never been.

Where are you happiest?

Flashback - St. Patrick's Day

Just a few snapsnots from some St. Patrick's Days past!

Blog Challenge - Day 17

I started "blogging" back in middle school or high school, whenever Xanga became a thing. Everyone had them (our generation's first version of Facebook, you could even say). We wrote Xanga entries - sometimes funny, sometimes "thoughtful," sometimes stupid... and we could comment all over everyone's pages.

I went through a number of usernames in time, all of which were really dumb... but you live and you learn. I also still have the password to the most recent Xanga I had - I shut the other ones down a number of years ago unfortunately.

Since Xanga, I've had a variety of blogs. Some personal, some for school, and even one to document my travels to Italy.

Writing is in me, and always has been! Which is why I started PDC to share with all of you!

Blog Challenge - Day 16

WHAT IS MY BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

If I had to pinpoint a day to be the most important of my life, the greatest thing I've ever done... I would say it would be May 11, 2012. The day I graduated from college.

College for me was a whirlwind of memories, emotions, and events. I had so many good times with friends, so many trying moments due to my medical conditions, but I somehow managed to get through it all, AND come out of it with some pretty great friends that I plan on having for the rest of my life.

I graduated from the best university on this earth, Mizzou, and I'm a Tiger forever.
