FALL FUN

Over the past week or so, I've gotten to partake in a lot of random fall fun. Aside from Chiefs games, there hasn't been much of that going on, so it was a great change!

Last Wednesday, I went home again to Columbia with my roommate so she could get her hair cut. I spent my night sitting in a Starbucks doing my homework. I even got to see Sammie, which took me back to my life and love of college during undergrad. Home is where the tigers are.

Thursday was parent/teacher conferences here in Chilli, MO, which meant that there was no school on Friday. This, in turn, meant that I got to spend a long weekend home with my fam bam, friends, and fiance. AND NOT ONLY THAT, but I got to see my main man, Athen, and do some really fun fall things with him.

First though, a picture of my cat trying to look regal, as well as the two huge pumpkins A and I picked out but didn't get to carve yet :(

First, I showed A how to make hot chocolate with milk. It's about 20x better. Then we filled up our mugs with ghost shaped marshmallows and chugged it up!

Then we put together sticker jack-o-laterns that we got from the owner of the restaurant down the street. He's pretty darn cute so people like to give him neat stuff!

FINALLY, we baked Halloween cupcakes. Athen picked out Devils Food Cake cake mix and chocolate frosting. We rounded up some orange sprinkles at the house and then went to town. I showed him how to frost the cupcakes himself, and he did awesome! Then he asked to put ghosts on one of his cupcakes and I thought, "Why not?!" We waited a bit, and then of course, we ate them! Such a fun day with this little guy.

Saturday night, I attended a Halloween get together with just a few friends. Here's a couple pictures of us ladies. As you can see, I went all out on the costume....whoops?

Last but not least, while this is not really "fall fun," it is a reminder that the big day is coming fast! Thanks for this fun text from one of my beautiful bridesmaids! :)

Happy Wednesday!! You know what that means... my weekly fashion choices! I'm doing my best to incorporate bold-colored, basic pieces into my wardrobe and mix it up with accessories. Some days I do better than others, but it's a work in progress. I'm far more fashionable than I used to be - I think because I'm having to post my outfits for the readers and don't want you guys to make fun of me! ;)

So here's just a few!
Wednesday! I paired a chambray button up with dress pants, but layered a patterened tank underneath to accent it. Mixing of prints and fabrics can be casual or for work!
Dress pants + striped tank + chambray button-up: Old Navy, Shoes: Macy's

Thursday for our end-of-the-quarter reward day. Basically we got to wear school colors (and jeans) to school and not teach. HELLO, ideal work day! :)
Jeans + grey cardi: Old Navy, red top: Sam's Club, Shoes: Macy's, Watch: Charming Charlie's

RED FRIDAY IN KC.
T-shirt: Fanatics.com, Jeans: Old Navy, Shoes: Sperry's, Red coat: Sam's Club

And now... my manic Monday ensemble. Just a basic button-up paired with a scarf that has a little personality.
Gray dress pants: Vanity Fair Outlet, Green button-up: Old Navy, Scarf: Italian H&M, Shoes: Macy's

Last but not least, but rainy day blues outfit (Tuesday was especially rainy so the title fit).
Dress + belt: H&M, Blue cardi: Old Navy, Tights: Walmart, Watch: Charming Charlie's, Boots: Gift

Clearly the theme this week is to not focus so much on labels or store names, but really focus on pieces that you'll get function out of (that fit you well)!! You saw that I had a couple different pieces from SAM'S CLUB on here this week - YES, the bulk buying store that has that weird little clothing section. Honestly, I always try to stroll through because you never know what kind of steal you can find! I got both of these beautifully red items at a steal, and they work really well in my wardrobe! What are some of the places you come across suprising fashion finds??

Chiefs vs Browns

Hey my party peeps! In case you haven't been following the KC Chiefs (I don't know why you wouldn't be considering...), you'll be happy to hear that they are STILL undefeated at 8-0! We've definitely got some things to work on, but we're getting those W's!  Here are some snaps from the Chiefs vs. Browns game on 10/27!

We started out the day by finding that I was having a reaction to the Hydrocortisone cream we'd used on my face. Basically a chemical burn - OUCH! Once we got over that, we got down to tailgating business, even despite the freezing temps in the morning!

As we do every week, we enjoyed some delicious eats thanks to our resident chef, Justin. This week: wing buffet! Three different sauces, bone in or bone out, chicken legs, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn dogs... PLUS mama's pasta salad to top it off. I was ready for a nap after this one!

And my traditional weekly pics: Chiefs fan in training + family.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Continue supporting our boys on the road the next few weeks!

ROAR

Looking through random YouTube videos lately, I ran across one I couldn't help but feel I needed to share. It not only made me have goose bumps, but I shed quite a few tears. These kids are champions.

Hey party people! I hope all is going well. We're half-way through teacher hell week in Chillicothe - AKA: parent teacher conferences, grades being due, plus I've got TONS of my own school work to do. Alas, we're gonna make it, and we're gonna have a friggin Master's degree when all is said and done!

Here are some of my digs from the past week or so!

Friday's Hornet spirit! Hello, Autumn!
Boots + jeans + gray sweater: Old Navy, Hornets tee: Local specialty shop

This one is my casual Saturday in KC outfit. I'm almost embarrassed about where it's all from... Almost.
Jeans + tennis shoes + black top + cardi: Old Navy, Scarf: Charlotte Russe

I'm posting this picture again to showcase some of my new grabs - sunnies and a shirt! I got them both at a steal! The shirt for $9, and the shades for $5!
KC chiefs shirt: Fanatics.com, Sunglasses: Kohl's

Please excuse the coloring being a bit off in the full-length shot. I take these outfit pics in the morning before I roll out to school, so the lighting is a bit dark and needs adjusted!
Dress + cargigan: Old Navy, Belt: H&M, Tights: Walmart, Shoes: Macy's

Moral of the story for this week is hit the clearance and sale racks - and more than that, hit them at stores where you know how the clothes fit your body! You can pick up staples like cardigans (PERFECT FOR FALL) for a steal, that will be super useful as the weather gets chilly!

Chiefs' Fly Over

I just wanted to upload a video for your viewing pleasure: The 49 plane, world record setting, fly over at the Chiefs vs. Raiders game a couple weeks back!

Enjoy!

Chiefs vs Texans

Over the weekend, the Chiefs took on the Texans in a fight to hold on to their undefeated record. It was any ugly/sloppy game, but they managed to stick it out and are now the only undefeated team in the NFL. Here are some snapshots from the game!

Chiefs cake and a Chiefs baby!

We got our picture taken by the KC Star for their community faces section on their website. Here's that picture! Kinda neat!
