Shopping Haul

Lately, I've been trying to find some great clothes that I can incorporate into my wardrobe for my profession. I've been obsessed with button ups and bright colors, so when my mom and I hit a couple different outlet malls, I found some great bargains! I also got some great new accessories! Best part of it all? I got everything pictured in this post for under $100 total!!! Check it out!
Teal shirt + light green button up + bracelets: Old Navy

Buttons ups (yellow, blue, three orange) + 2 belts: Van Heusen, Polka dot wedges: Payless

Blue top: Forever 21, Tank tops (white, blue) + pink top: JC Penney

Linen dress pants + tops (green, white): New York and Comany

Dress pants (brown, gray), white top, polka dot button up: Vanity Fair outlet, Purple top: Banana Republic Outlet

Blue button up + 6 pairs of socks: Gap Outlet

Chambray pullover tunic + red zip up hoodie + 3 pairs of socks + corduroy skinny's (red, blue), + 3 necklaces: Old Navy

Overall, I got a ton of cute, new, professional clothes for a steal of a price! Deal of the bunch was definitely the 2 pairs of corduroy skinny's though - I got them for $0.43 a pair!!

Additionally, these aren't clothes, but along with this haul I picked up 45 cards for $4 + tax at a card store in Omaha that was cleaning out their overstock! Can't say I'm not proud of this deal considering I send cards to a lot of family members for holidays! Score!

Have you scored any great deals lately? XXO

Last week:

Over the past week things have been crazy! I'm wrapping up my time here in KC before the big move and really just trying to get time in with everyone before I leave.
On Sunday, my mom and I went to the outlet mall in Kansas to go shopping at Nebraska Furniture mart. I was looking for a twin bed that had storage underneath for my new house. Afterward, we stopped into a few other stores and then had lunch at the Yard House. I think that Yard House is my new favorite restaurant - so many different food options and hundreds of beers on tap! Yum!
Later in the week my mom and I started trying to tackle the task of organizing the basement. A lot of my things are down there that I'll need for the move (my kitchen stuff, etc.), so it had to be done. In the process, I found a few gems that belonged to my grandmother as well as a couple cute pictures of my brother and me.

We've also had Athen during the day again, so I got to learn the different between a Transformer toy and a Power Ranger toy that looks like a Transformer toy. BIG DIFFERENCE!

Most exciting was that we started moving my things into my new house in Chillicothe. Starting the packing/moving process really brought things to reality for me. I really am moving on the 9th and that is SO SOON. Here's a cute/cheesy picture of me with the "Welcome to Chilli, MO" sign!

I hope you all have had fun, exciting weeks!

Top 5 book to screen Adaptations

Today I have another "favorites" list of mine! My top 5 (semi-recent) book to screen adaptations.

As an English teacher and lover of books, I truly believe that if you're going to make a book a movie or TV series, it needs to be done right. By that I mean it needs to hold the same sentiments, have the same main focus, and not too many things can be rearranged time wise. So here's my list!
  1. The Perks of Being A Wallflower

  2. Harry Potter

  3. Hunger Games

  4. Gossip Girl

  5. Harriet The Spy

Now that you know mine, what are your favorite book to screen adaptations?!

Date Night!

If you couldn't tell from the blog, there is a large amount of busy that my life entails. With that said, Ben and I aren't given the opportunity very often to go out for nice dates or dinners. We're busy with 4 jobs and 2 full time class loads between us. So about a month ago, we decided it was time to set aside a night for us to go somewhere wonderful. One of Ben's cello students (an older man of 71) is in an amazing jazz trio and plays at The Majestic steakhouse and jazz club in downtown KC. BINGO! We decided to go on July 19th and put in the time off request at work! (I know, how sad that we have to request off for a date... haha).

The request off was definitely worth it though. The prices at the restaurant were on the higher side ranging from $25 all the way up to the $66 steak dinner! They had a wide array of beverages - beers, wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholics too. The food and environment were definitely worth the cost! The food was delicious, and the music was great too.

Some interesting facts about The Majestic:
  • The jazz club is in the basement, which used to be an old speakeasy with a tunnel underground from the Opera House so people couldn't see you enter!
  • It's haunted!

I'd definitely recommend the trip to downtown if you're looking for good food and celebrating a special occasion! You won't be sorry you did!

Burning Questions

I know the burning question that's been on everyone's mind lately is this one:
WHERE'S WALDO KIMBERLY???

Well, bloggers, things have been pretty busy! Between wrapping up the semester for grad school, preparing to move, trying to see everyone before I go, and misc. other things... I'm swamped. Yes, that's a nice way to put it.

Here are some snaps from where I've been that you haven't already heard about!

As of lately my obsessions have been Lucky Charms and finishing the Gossip Girl series. Both are wonderful, and just so you all know - I cried when Chuck proposed to Blair.

Ben is great and has been cooking for me a ton so I can get my fill before I leave for Chillicothe! I'm sure gonna miss being taken care of! ;)

This picture of me on the right is a clue regarding something Ben and I had done last week. Do with that what you will.

Last Friday I went to school with Ben to work on stuff, and we treated ourselves to lunch at Kin Lin - a great little Chinese restaurant by UMKC. They've got $5.45 lunches! Can't beat that! Pictured below are their Curry Chicken and Beef Broccoli. Also a picture of Ben making a weird face. Those are always awesome!

I hope all is well with you, friends! XXO

What are you wearing?

It's about that time for another fashion tends and wish list post! Lately, I've been obsessing over chunky necklaces to pair with my more professional attire for work at school! These pieces allow me to feel more bold with my color combinations, and also make me feel a bit more put together!

What's your color of choice??

As we start heading toward Fall and "back to school," I'm anxious to see if trends will be drastically changing! I love my riding boots and scarves and I'm looking forward to wearing them again! I'm not too much of a fashionista, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!
