13 goals for 2013:

I decided  that I wanted to make a real list of "resolutions." In my case, for the sake of all considered, I am going to call them goals. My 13 goals for 2013, if you will. I'm trying to stay grounded/realistic.

  1. Drink at least 3 glasses of water every day! I know that I'm supposed to drink more than that, but I think this is a realistic goal to start with, and I could potentially increase the amount over time.
  2. Apply to Teach for America/Reapply for the MU Fellowship program. Although things have changed in my life over the past year that made it really hard - I want to step out of my box and apply for programs that will change my life.
  3. Try to try more. With my current job, I get up early and tend to do the least amount possible in the mornings when it comes to my appearance. I'm not sure how easily this will take place considering my outfits also tend to be based on my skin that day, but I want to try!
  4. Watch my best friends get married without envy. As most of you know, I got engaged in May 2012. Since then I've had a handful of friends get engaged - and they will also be getting married before me. I am so looking forward to my wedding that I wish it was sooner, but I want to watch them get married and be happy - even if my day is still 1 year away.
  5. Use social networking less. I want to try to cleanse myself of social media this year. I don't want to cut it out all together, but it's one of my goals to use it less. For professional reasons, and also to allow myself to live more in the now.
  6. Read 1 book a month for fun. I find myself searching for time to read for pleasure, and never seem to find it. But having received a Kindle Fire for Christmas from my parents, I want to change this. (So send me your book suggestions!!)
  7. Receive all A's and B's in grad school. I'm working really hard to overcome the obstacles in my life regarding school. I would love a 4.0, but would be happy if I can just make this happen for myself with good grades.
  8. Find more time to spend with Ben. With both of us working 2 jobs and going to school full time, this year I want to do more fun things, try new things, cook new meals, watch new movies.
  9. Stop drinking soda. I went almost 2.5 years without drinking soda, but over the past year have slipped back into this gross groove. I love Dr. Pepper, but I'll like my healthy body more.
  10. Incorporate more organic foods/dairy substitutes into my diet. Based on a suggestion from my Doctor to help improve my Psoriasis, I want to do everything I can to help myself.
  11. Be at peace with my health conditions. The past year has been one of the worst of my life in terms of physically and emotionally dealing with my Psoriasis and the other conditions it has caused. It is my hope that this year I will be able to accept my conditions and love my body despite its' flaws.
  12. Scrapbook more. Not only that, but I want to scrapbook with more care and creativity involved.
  13. Complete more DIY projects. On the same note as scrapbooking, I want to be able to complete more projects to express myself creatively.
