Homemade Mac & Cheese

This week, I tried my hand at making "homemade" macaroni and cheese. Mind you I didn't actually make anything, but I also didn't eat it out of a box. I got this idea from a friend of mine who made it as part of a dinner I ate at her house once over the summer.

Here are the things you need:
  1. Pasta (any shape that works for you)
  2. Two blocks of cheese (pick the types to your liking)
  3. Milk
  4. Margarine/butter

What worked for me was this: while my water was trying to boil, I chunked up about 2/3 of each of the blocks of cheese. Some people would chunk the whole thing, but I'm not as big of a fan of overly cheesy macaroni and cheese, so I cut the amount back.

Once my pasta was done cooking I drained it, poured it back in the pot, then added the cheese chunks, about 1/4 cup of milk, and a couple tablespoons of margarine. I let it simmer on the heat until the cheese was melted and mixed in.

Once it was all melted and mixed, I served it up! Easy as pie and only took about 10 minutes thanks to my 3-minute pasta! Enjoy!

*The one thing I will warn you about is to be prepared to have a layer of pasta to scrape off the bottom of your pan. I'm not sure if more butter or milk would remedy this problem, but one I ran hot water on mine it slid right off with the help of a spoon! :)
