WELL, CRAP

I promise myself every week that I'm going to update the blog in the early week, but then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday arrive and leave again without me getting myself together. Every week I plan out posts to write for you guys, and even queue some of them, and yet... it's Thursday and I haven't posted in a while again... I figure we'll do a mass catch-up post and we can move forward fresh from here, right? At least we are going to try.

First, here are some updates from the work side of things. I'm one of the junior-class sponsors and Prom will be taking place on April 16th. Our theme is The Great Gatsby and all of our decor is starting to arrive. Between 800 balloons, tons of ostrich feathers, and 300 champagne glasses for gift bags, my classroom was getting pretty crowded... luckily our AMAZING custodian, Brenda, found some space to move it until the big day!

Additionally, today marks the Gateway book pizza party here at CHS. If students read THREE of the Gateway nominated novels they can attended for food and prizes (teachers need to have read one of the books to attend). I read Eleanor and Park last semester and I'm about to dive into Thousand Words. This party is just another one of the AWESOME things that our librarian does here in Cameron.

Another exciting things happening this week is the final performances of the Spring student-directed one act plays. Four seniors have been working their butts off to direct these plays and I was able to go watch and review them last week. It is obvious that the casts are working hard and taking pride in what they're doing. Two of the pieces are comedies and one drama. A portion of the ticket-sale proceeds will go towards a Veterans relief program.

On a more personal note, things have been insane the past week or so. Without going into too much detail and harming our own privacy on some matters, I will tell you that our household has been stressed. With that in mind, we are trying to keep life normal... and what better way is there to do that than try a new breakfast joint? Over the weekend, we tried out Kate's Kitchen in North Kansas City. I had the KEN'S CADILLAC OF BURRITOS [Scrambled eggs with chorizo, avocado, tomatoes and spinach. Wrapped in a spinach tortilla and topped with salsa, combo cheese, sour cream & chives] and Ben had the COUNTRY SCRAMBLE [A medley of bacon, sausage, ham, and a three cheese blend. Topped with gravy.]. Both meals were good, but I was missing a little bit of texture in mine. Their homemade biscuits were DELICIOUS THOUGH.

The other photos I have included are just a few snap shots from other things we've done recently. I got to see my goddaughter, Aniston, a few weeks ago when she and her mom, Ally, came to Kansas City to shop for birthday party supplies. The final picture is of Ben and his student, Danielle. He is her  only cello teacher (they do not have orchestra at her school), and she is in the Kansas City Youth Symphony this year. This was after their Winter concert last weekend.

I hope all is well for all of you. Here's to a better blogging schedule... XXO.
