For those of you who don't know, Ben's immediate family lives in South Bend, IN along with his grandparents. His only aunt, uncle, and cousins live in the Chicago area. With that being the case, we ventured to Chicago by plane for Thanksgiving this year.
Following an early morning flight, Ben and I enjoyed coffee downtown.
Because Ben's uncle works in the city, we hung around for the day until he was able to drive us back to where they live (about 50 miles out of Chicago). We spent our time having a delicious lunch at Grand Lux, roaming around the NINE STORY Macy's store they have, and buying some of the infamous Garrett popcorn!
For Thanksgiving we spent the day at Ben's aunt and uncle's. All of Ben's family came in from South Bend in addition to some of his aunt's immediate family. Ben's family made me feel very welcome for my first Thanksgiving away from home, including made me my very favorite Thanksgiving food - macaroni and cheese!
Overall, we had a really nice time spending the holiday with Ben's family. Our last Thanksgiving not married! :)
