Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Now that February is in full swing, a lot of people are talking about Valentine’s Day and their plans, etc. Although the masses won't be sending me valentines this year, I would like to join in on the fun of talking about what I’d like to do or what silly presents I’d like to receive.

DISCLAIMER: I think that couples shouldn’t need Valentine’s Day to use as an excuse to spend time with each other/express their love. There are 364 other days in the year and they should celebrate those days too. That being said…

1. Candy hearts: While simple and maybe a bit silly (and chalky tasting at times, ha!) they’re a classic candy that represents this day, and sometimes chocolate is too overplayed.

2. Buy me tulips or orchids! That is, if you’re going to buy me flowers at all. Roses may be representative of love, but they’re not my favorite flower. Buying me tulips or orchids would show that you pay attention to what I like.
3. If we’re going out, take me somewhere that means something to us. I don’t care if we go to some fancy restaurant. Chances are, if I’m going out with you for Valentine’s Day, I already like you, know how much money you have, and would be more impressed if you took us to the restaurant we had our first date at/go to often/etc.
4. Let me pick the movie: chances are, if you tell me I can choose whatever I want, I’m going to pick something that you’ll like too.
5. Small gestures will make the day special: send me a card in the mail, hold my hand while we walk into the restaurant, buy us Starbucks and then drive around town just talking and telling jokes.
6. I got enough teddy bears from Kyle Messier to last me a life time. They’re all in a trash bag in my parents’ basement. Just don’t do it.
7. Buy me all of the sports wear. Anything Chiefs, Royals, or Mizzou will do.
