DIY Canvas Art

After seeing a couple bloggers I follow try homemade canvas art, I decided to try my hand at it. I knew I didn't want to do anything overly complicated, but I wanted my results to be cute and meaningful. So here's what happened!

I wanted to start simple (and cheap) because as much as I envision things coming out really cute... sometimes they just don't, haha! So I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a package of two 8x10 canvases for $3.99! What a deal right?? I also decided that I wanted to keep things simple and just use sharpies to execute my design!

It made most sense to me to start by drawing everything in pencil. That way if I flubbed on the writing I could fix it! If you look closely you can see a couple "mess ups!"

 

Next, I went over what I'd drawn with the sharpie. Easy couple of steps, eh? 

I decided on the "quotes" or words, really by looking at ideas on Pinterest and blogs. I also really loved an Edgar Allen Poe quote, so I might end up going back for more canvases. 

What do you guys think? Clearly these are not overly fancy - but think of the potential! Cute quotes for baby rooms, funny lyrics to give as a gift, a meaningful song, etc!
