Restaurant Review: Pizza 51

Last week, I went to UMKC with Ben when he had class so that I could work on my own class stuff in their library. The library there is amazing - I love it! After class we met up with one of my bridesmaids, Stacey, and we decided to go to lunch at Pizza 51 right by UMKC!

Pizza 51 is in an old automotive shop! From the outside it looks like where you should go if you need your oil changed, but once you get inside, they've transformed the shop into an ode to Route 66 that also serves up some pretty delicious (and reasonably priced) pizza!

My favorite part was probably this wall where they had license plates from all the states put together to make a (disproportionate) map of the US!

Another cool feature was the fact that they kept all of the old garage doors! I also really loved the wall of random bumper stickers in the bathroom! Some of them were very funny!

As far as the pizza, mine was great! I had Pepperoni and black olive, Ben had Italian Sausage and Mushroom, and if I remember correctly Stacey had Pepperoni and mushroom! The slices were HUGE (think NY style pizza), and the crusts were the perfect thickness! For my drinking friends, they do serve beer - Ben had a pint of Boulevard!

Overall, I was really satisfied. Ben and I were able to get 2 slices of pizza, a side salad, a soda, and a beer for less than $18! It was definitely worth the trip, and I can't wait to go back and try new toppings!
